Free Your Artist

There is a harmony
In autumn, and a lustre in its sky,
Which through the summer is not heard or seen,
As if it could not be, as if it had not been!

—Percy Bysshe Shelley

Creativity Exercise - Opposites

Autumn, like Spring, is a season of contrasts and change. For me, I feel a zing in the blood as the air cools and freshens. Other people might think of fading, dying, slowing down. Which are you? What do you know now, in this season, that you didn't in Spring and Summer?

Opposites:

Review a piece of your previous work, and do the complete opposite. If you made cookies to celebrate the sun and the day, now bake something that represents the moon and night. If you danced of a meeting, show a farewell; if you painted a lush forest think of drawing bare trees. Or experiment with opposite techniques - lush/spare, or colors yellow/dark blue.

Affirmation

As the seasons change I reflect upon how I've changed and grown and celebrate new creative ideas.
